George J. Lee, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his loving daughter's home in Mesa, AZ surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren, and family. Geroge was born on February 22, 1930, in Red Lake, AZ to Joe and Alberta Lee. During the 1950s, George enlisted in the Army joining the 45th Division, and spent his military service in Japan. After spending 344 days in the military he was told that he needed to re-enlist so he headed back to the United States, Seattle, Washington, but instead of re-enlisting he told them he he wanted to go home for good because his parents needed his help, but before he left Seattle, he happened to read in the local newspaper that said the 45th Division was deployed to the frontline. There were 13 Navajo boys in his division. He was worried about his division and prayed. When the boys came back one boy's head was hurt badly and did not live long after that. Soon after coming back home, he met Cecelia Kaibetoney, and were quickly married and moved to Tooele, Utah where George worked at the Tooele Ordnance Depot. There Cecelia and George started their family. They lived in Tooele for about 7 to 8 years and then during 1963-64, George and his family moved to Richfield, Utah. There he worked as a cook at the Richfield Indian Dormitory for about 3 years and then was transferred to Tuba City for about 4 years then in 1970 Geroge decided to move back to Richfield to work at the Richfield Dormitory. There he had a home built for his wife and children. After his home was built, George's special interests included planting a garden every year. He always loved sharing his vegetables with his family and friends. His favorite outdoor sport was fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.
